Office Therapy - Correcting a Charge when there is no diagnosis for ICD 9
You cannot submit an encounter or charge and there is no associated diagnosis for the client. In order to add a diagnosis and re-process the charge, you need to complete the following actions:
In this case, you have created a charge for a client without a diagnosis entry. The charge will appear like this.
If you try to submit the charge as a claim though Claims Manager, you will receive a message that a diagnosis is required.
To correct the charge, as noted above, go to the Client setup, to the Diagnosis tab.
- Click Add to enter a diagnosis
- Add at least one diagnosis
- Now, return to the Ledger and open the charge
- Click on the HCFA Details tab
You will now see the diagnosis you entered.
Click OK to save and re-submit the claim.
