If the default screen size was smaller than what the page's responsive width would normally be resizing to, you can tackle this by adjusting the Zoom Settings in Chrome.
By adjusting it in the settings (three vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner) we were able to resize the page appropriately.
It may also help to check your device's default scaling, many laptops scale things at 125% on the operating system side - adjusting this to 100% would help the pages adjust as expected.
